Every second counts in the trauma center of the University Hospital Antwerp (UZA), where lives are at stake. To save crucial time, Contribute, a company within the De Cronos Group, has developed and hosted a tailor-made Oracle APEX cloud application. This automation has helped UZA gain valuable minutes in the registration of trauma incidents.
UZA is a leading university hospital with a level 1 trauma center for both adults and children, where two serious traumas can be treated simultaneously. Manual documentation of patient data in local files was time-consuming and error-prone. Guy Lodewijks, ICT manager at UZA, explains: “The local file had 360 fields that had to be filled in manually.” The trauma team approached Contribute, which already had experience with Oracle APEX, for assistance.
The new trauma register offers crucial benefits: time savings and efficiency. “Time is crucial in trauma treatment. Having fast access to patient information can save lives,” says Guy Lodewijks. The system enables the team to act quickly and eliminates administrative backlogs. The quality of information has improved through seamless integration with other systems, reducing errors.
Contribute not only manages the development of the trauma register but also its maintenance on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), ensuring security and efficiency. The trauma register has bolstered confidence in the cloud, as it complies with healthcare regulations. Guy Lodewijks concludes: “Our experience with Contribute, Oracle APEX, and OCI has been very positive. We are considering replacing more applications in Access and Excel with APEX custom solutions.” In short, Contribute and Oracle have played a crucial role in optimizing trauma registration and saving lives at the UZA trauma center.
