For Jolyce Demely, general manager of Agoria Vlaanderen, this new CS barometer shows that more needs to be done to raise awareness. “The barometer shows that no less than 13.5% of Flemish companies fell victim to a cyber attack in the past year, a percentage that is probably even an underestimate. However, companies indicate that they do not sufficiently see the usefulness of cyber security or that it is too important to do so. little priority is given. That has to change. A cyber attack has far-reaching consequences and it remains necessary to point out the importance of robust cyber security to every employee, including management.”
Agoria is already doing this today, including via cyberstart.be, with advice and tips and tricks to arrive at a practical action and implementation plan on cybersecurity. The cyberstart program was developed in collaboration with VLAIO.
We already included in our sustainability report the commitment that by 2025 95% of our members will have a cybersecurity action plan. With more than 100 attacks per day, cybersecurity is a necessity for all companies.
“Moreover, new European legislation will come into force in 2 years. Then companies must have a clear view of the cybersecurity risks to which they are exposed through their suppliers. In other words, cybersecurity will become an important condition for doing business. it is high time to get started, because for many companies it takes at least a year to get cyber security properly arranged,” says Demely.
